About this event

  • 2 hours

Join the West Lothian Ranger Service for some conservation tasks in Beecraigs Country Park. For this session we will be based at Witchcraig, which is a mosaic of semi-natural and plantation woodland, heathland and acidic grassland, located in the north western corner of the Bathgate Hills. An area of Witchcraig was gifted to West Lothian Council in 2021 increasing the size of the Country Park and greatly enhancing the site. As part of the management plan for the site, we will be leading a session of tree planting of native broadleaved tree's. We need volunteers to help us plant these saplings in the cooler and wetter months to give these young trees the best chance of success.

All tools and a full tool safety talk will be provided by the Ranger. If you have some, please bring along a pair of gloves with you, and wear appopriate clothing for the weather. Good sturdy footwear is also advised. Please bring along any snacks and drinks you require. No prior experience is necessary to take part in the sessions, new volunteers are always welcome!

The session will run for two hours starting at 10am, and the meeting place is at the Korean War Memorial, which is located on the road between Linlithgow and Bathgate.
