About this event

Humans have long used bees to provide honey and wax. Initially wild bees were found and the honey gathered but methods of keeping bees were developed and along with them beehives developed. Speaker Jenny Morgan, Master Beekeeper, is the Education Officer for Reading Beekeepers Association, and a member of the BBKA exam board. Her talk will explore beehive development and indicate how, as beekeepers understood more about the biology and behaviour of bees, the hives were modified. She will also examine how beehive designs are still developing or reverting to earlier methods.

This talk is part of Caversham and District Residents' Association's contribution to Heritage Open Days 2025, which this year focuses on Bridges, Buildings and Beehives. CADRA iis grateful to the Reading Beekeepers Association - www.RBKA.org.uk - for agreeing to put on this talk.
