Our beekeeping experiences are very calm and relaxed throughout as this is the best way to approach bees and observe them. The experience will take place in one of our apiaries, which are all rural and centred around Bridport, in beautiful West Dorset. Our experiences are mesmerising and you will be amazed at how much you can learn in a short time spent with a group of enthusiastic people
We will start by having a general chat amongst the group about pollinators and bees in general and then explain a little about honeybees and colony behaviours in a bit more detail. We'll look at some pictures and equipment before getting our suits on and going to meet the bees. At the hives, we will spend some time observing the bees in flight from the entrance and we will explain the activities they are undertaking. Weather and bees permitting, everyone will hold a frame of bees and take a close look at them with one of our beekeeping team at your side.
After visiting the bees, we come back together to have lunch, which gives a chance for everyone to chat about the experience and ask questions about bees. We love chatting about bees so are happy to answer questions, and there are always lots of questions about these incredible insects.
T he beekeeping experience will start at 10am, so arrive a little before this, and will finish after lunch at approximately 1pm.
