About this event

In this fun workshop Ky Lewis in conjunction with Folkhouse Darkroom Bristol and London Alternative Photography Collective, will show you how to create a pinhole camera out of a container(beer can) that would normally be discarded after use, by making your own camera you will learn to apply this to almost any container and you will have the confidence to load, expose and develop your own pinhole photos at home.

Before heading into the darkroom you will make your camera and we shall discuss how to expose the light sensitive paper inside. Once you have exposed your photo paper you will be shown how to use the darkroom and how to mix chemicals and the safe use of the space and how to set up your own darkroom at home.

You will learn an array of tips and tricks in order to start your pinhole journey.

After the intense three hour workshop you will have an understanding of how the pinhole works, and at least one negative and positive black and white print!

Chemicals will be used in this workshop

There will also be cutting metal and use of of knives.

Starting with a cylinder you will be shown how to cut and make the can into what will become a camera-making a seperate pinhole-exposing the silver gelatin photo paper and developing in black and white chemistry in the darkroom.

All these skills can then be applied to making your own cameras from found and recycled containers.Examples of the some of the
