Event description

Description

"In February 2010 Befaco was created as an open hardware platform focusing on professional DIY musical hardware, materializing our previous electronic, musical and artisitc research.

Our main activity has been developing and publishing our own modular synthesizer system, nowadays migrated for compatibility to eurorack format. All this public research is published under CC-NC-SA License, so people can build all our designsin during our regular workshops in cities as Barcelona, Madrid, London or Berlin or download the schematics, and technical assembly guides, to make their own variations of the projects.

These workshops are a huge test playground where we can track each module being built by different befaco users, get direct feedback from them and quickly improve each section with new ideas, develop new modules, perfection existing ones or adapt these units to users demands constantly.

Direct contact with DIY enthusiasts allow an implication of users in the structure. Allowing them to design their own modules, reworking existing ones and/or adding new features of their own. This has developed into an incubation environment for new modular initiatieves, allowing differnet makers to start their own similar projects."

Here's a little bit of info from the team:

"Eurorack Barcelona is an organization that unites the synth manufacturers based in Barcelona and its surroundings: Befaco, Endorphin.es, Patching Panda, Olitronik, Winter Modular, Plankton Electronics, Grau Modular and Transient Modules. This initiative was born within Hangar.org, headquarters of Befaco, where every Thursday the doors are open to people interested in these devices and as a result of these meetings, new brands were created, to which were added others developed in parallel. To shape this unique movement, we decided to take Eurorack Barcelona forward, which allows us to strengthen ties and make known this movement that we are passionate about."

IMPORTANT BITS

- This is a reservation only, and does not grant access to Machina Bristronica. For this you'll need to buy a ticket for the day event which can be found here.

- Build sessions begin at 12:30. If you have not arrived by this time, workshop leaders reserve the right to give your place to other attendees.

- Please note all build sessions run from 12:30 - 16:30. Please only book one session, as reserving spaces on multiple sessions prevents other attendees from getting the chance to build. Also it's highly likely that you won't be able to partake in multiple sessions due to the build time recommended for some modules.

- After booking your place you will be contacted with a list of available modules from your chosen company as well as their individual prices. Please let us know what you'd like to build as this saves each company having to bring 8x stock of everything they have!

- As each module is priced differently you'll be required to pay for your workshop in cash on the day. This is paid directly to your workshop leader. This allows for flexible workshops and means that the companies get the most direct payment!

- Soldering irons will be provided on the day by the companies.

- No experience is needed, we want these workshops to be as open as possible to all our attendees on the day. However, if you are worried about your technical ability, or the difficulty of a certain build get in touch and we can put you in contact with the workshop leaders.

- Any further questions or enquiries please contact Ben@elevatorsound.com
