Event description

Description

Explore behind the scenes of this unique area of craftsmanship in the Watts & Co Showroom. Here you can see where these beautiful vestments are lovingly crafted and listen first-hand to the people who make them.

Founded in 1874, Watts & Co. have a proud heritage of designing ecclesiastical vestments and furnishings for some of the world’s most beloved churches and figures. We will be giving a talk about the rich history of Watts, which will be followed by a guided tour where attendees will be able to meet the wonderfully talented seamstresses behind these stunning creations.

Watts & Co is a family business still run by the descendants of one of the founders George Gilbert Scott. His father, Sir Gilbert Scott, was also a prolific architect who designed St Pancras Station & Hotel and the Albert Memorial amongs other iconic buildings. His son, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, designed Battersea Power station and the red telephone box.
