Befriending isolated older people in Cheylesmore: Good Neighbours Coventry
Could you volunteer to befriend lonely older people in Cheylesmore/Stivichall, or help them with small practical tasks like changing a lightbulb, from only 20 minutes per week? We need volunteers to phone or have a cup of tea with older people, who might not otherwise get any other contact, once a week, or who would like to be on a rota for odd jobs. This could be mornings, afternoons, evenings or weekends - when it suits you.
This session will give you an understanding of the Good Neighbours Coventry project in Cheylesmore/Stivichall and how you can join in to make a simple difference to older people's lives. You are not committed to volunteering for Good Neighbours Coventry by coming along - just come and see what you think! This project is a collaboration between HOPE Coventry, Age UK Coventry and Together for Change, seeking to alleviate loneliness in some of the 2700 isolated older people in Coventry. Loneliness is as bad for health as 15 cigarettes a day.
We will have volunteer application forms available, as well as biscuits! We look forward to seeing you.
If you have any questions, or cannot come to either event but would like to get involved, you can visit our website facebook.com/goodneighbourscoventry, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text 07563 902 904. If you know of any older people who may wish to be befriended, please do pass these contact details on to them.
