Beginner 3D Printing Course
Sat 25 March 2017, 10:00 – 12:30 GMT
3D printing is currently at the forefront of advanced prototyping and amateur model making. It allows the user to print plastic parts, models and figures with relative ease.
This 3hr workshop is intended for beginners and will use a combination of taught presentation and hands on practice to allow participants to gain a basic understanding of 3D printing. We will teach you the basics of advanced 3D software packages (Google Sketch Up & Autodesk 123D Design). This workshop will teach participants two important modeling skills concentrating on design (CAD) and manufacture (CAM). The skills learned this workshop can be easily applied to create advanced 3D printable objects, such as objects with unique shapes.
During this short 2.5 hr. workshop participants will learn the basics of 3D printing. Participants will skip the 3D modeling stage and will be invited to choose a 3D model from a pre approved library. They will then be guided through the 3D print process from point of approval of 3D design, through the process of using 3D print software, loading the 3D printer with material and finally printing a 3D model.
Participants will be provided all PC’s and access to software and start designing products for a limited time after the course.
