Step into a rejuvenating day at Welsummer Camping with Claire and Laura, your hosts. Explore ways to integrate wild plants into your life, starting with beginner-friendly, recognizable plants like nettle, dandelion, and wild rose. Learn by doing as you engage in hands-on foraging and participate in crafting your own wild food.

Our aim is to initiate you into the art of foraging and plant hedgerow medicine, guiding you through the basics. Did you know that foraging isn't solely about the harvest? It's a mindful journey, reconnecting us to nature and our roots. Allow us to lead you as we unveil the secrets of edible and poisonous plants along the way. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply seeking a unique experience, this event is tailor-made for beginners eager to dip their toes into the world of foraging. Don't miss out on this opportunity to commune with nature and relish a delectable feast!

Order of the Day- Upon arrival, be greeted with a cup of warm tea as we usher you into the site. We take pride in cultivating a warm, inviting atmosphere for your arrival. The session begins with a group introduction circle, fostering connections among like-minded souls. Claire, a yoga teacher and forest therapy guide, initiates the session with grounding breathwork exercises using pure essential oils, facilitating our connection to the earth. We then transition into gentle body movements designed to release any lingering tension, allowing you to fully inhabit the present moment.

You will be introduced to the seasonal plants that can be foraged for food and medicinal purposes and learn about their stories and health benefits. Our goal isn't to overwhelm or inundate you with too much geekery... but to instill confidence in a few plants and deepen your connection to those that we do encounter. Following this introduction, you'll get to harvest some of the ingredients for your lunch. Expect to gather wild greens, nettle tops, and edible flowers. To further connect to the plants, we offer time for sketching, drawing, painting, or photographing them—no artistic talent required, just your inner child's creativity. The aim for the workshop would be to walk away with a memory of the power of plants on our doorstep.

The latter part of our session features a light lunch crafted by Laura, the site owner, a talented chef who shares our passion for nature and health. The lunch is themed around seasonal ingredients, incorporating both pre-prepared wild foraged elements and those you've helped harvest! Anticipate indulging in seasonal soup, wild pesto, hummus, edible flowers, and wild herb bread. (Please contact us regarding dietry requirements.)

Our walk is leisurely-paced; it may include uphill in areas, fields, and woodland its likely we wont walk far!. Dress appropriately for the weather and ensure sturdy footwear. Feel free to bring a small basket for gathering samples, as well as a notebook or camera to capture valuable insights.

Laura, our site manager, encourages guests to unwind and savor the surroundings. Post-event, relax on-site or venture onto public footpaths for solitary reflection or further exploration. You're also invited to book into our charming accommodations for the full wild experience. Advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
