In this three hour workshop you will cover the essentials of machine knitting by making a simple beanie hat. It's an ideal follow up to my Machine Knitting 101 class.
The format is flexible and relaxed. Classes are limited to two students per session. So, you can be sure of individual attention.
All students will have access to a Silver Reed LK150 machine plus the appropriate tools and sufficient high qualilty yarn for samples and the project. This is a modern machine which knits with handknit weights of yarn but has no automatic patterning. The thicker yarn means you work with fewer needles making it an ideal machine for learing the principles of machine knitting.
As we work through the pattern we will cover:
- methods of casting on and off
- ribs and hems
- plain knitting
- adding a simple cable
- shaping the edge of your work
- sewing up and finishing touches
