IMPROVE YOUR ASANA PRACTICE
Learn the importance of correct alignment, breath work, dristi and bandhas through your asana practice. We will cover correct technique for developing your chaturangas, whilst strengthening your shoulders and upper body. We will have fun learning to jump through! We will also look at improving your back bends, where ever you are in your back bend practice. We will also cover core principles of a solid inversion practice, and touching on to some arm balancing.
Come join us for a strong, but playful workshop. You are sure to learn something to take with you to any asana practice. It is beneficial for you to have practiced Ashtanga before attending this workshop, but if you are a well practiced yogi and want to also work on your vinyasa transitions and traditional asanas you are most welcome to join.
The Ashtanga Primary series is also known as Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Therapy). This strong sequence of postures is designed to purify the body through the awareness of breath and movement to create stillness of the mind. This series of asanas utilizes the ujjayi breath and bandhas (energy locks) to increase strength, flexibility, concentration and to deepen one's connection with the Divine and higher Self.
