About this event

This course has been designed to build your knowledge about and practical hands-on confidence with honeybees. Through three informal small group workshops, we'll cover all the basics whilst also reading the bees (going through the hives) together during each workshop. Each attendee will get a beginners beekeeping book to keep and refer to between workshops, I'll also provide all equipment (I'll need your suit/hand size) and learning resources.

You may bring your own suit and gloves if you wish, I do require that this kit be washed between workshops to minimise the risk of spreading diseases between apiaries. Also if you wish to wear goatskin (or similar) gloves you'll need to wear nitrile gloves over the top, this is so we can disinfect them effectively between hives.

Due to the remoteness of the main apiary site, we cannot utilse indoor spaces if the weather isn't good enough to be outdoors. As a result of this, if the weather isn't great in the morning I may move the workshop to the afternoon 2-4, or if it's bad all day we may need to move to Sunday 10-2, or Sunday PM 2-4. At worst where the whole weekend is a write off we'll move to the next Saturday, but rest assured I'll ensure you get all three workshops done.

The first workshop will be Saturday September 10th 10:00 - 12:30, then Sep 17th, and finally Sep 24th (weather permitting). Before the course starts can you please email me with your contact number and next of kin details?

I've constructed outdoor seating at the apiary to enable us to have a socially distant learning area, where you can each get hands-on with the equipment and share questions as a group. That said if you have a specific chair/seat you normally use or would prefer to use do let me know.

It is also important that you declare any medical conditions that I might need to know about such as allergies, heart conditions etc

I'm very happy to chat through any Q's you might have before the event, as it's very important to me that you have the best experience whilst on my course.

Kind regards
