Our course has been designed to build practical, hands-on confidence with honeybees. We'll cover all you need to know as a beginner beekeeper and learn to read the bees by going through the hives together. We will stay active for most of the day and regularly stop for a cuppa to discuss what we've seen in the bees. It will be a busy day, so it's best to bring a packed lunch with you.
You will get your own beginner's beekeeping book to keep, which covers all the content and more to consolidate your learning. All equipment is provided, but please bring welly boots.
If you want to bring your own suit and gloves, please wash them to minimise the risk of spreading diseases between apiaries. Also, if you want to wear goatskin (or similar) gloves, you'll need to wear nitrile gloves on top so we can disinfect effectively between hives.
Before the course starts please email me with your contact number and next of kin details and let me know of any medical conditions that may be relevant such as allergies
I am very happy to chat with you about any questions you may have before the course. It's very important to me that you have the best experience while on my course.
Kind regards
Ashley
