About this event

Learn how to set a stone and make a beautiful ring in a day. Step by step demos help you to make a ring and set a cabochon gem stone or piece of sea glass in a simple rub-over setting. A great introduction to stone setting and a way to introduce colour to your jewellery making. Use traditional silversmithing techniques to form and solder your ring shanks, learn how to make a setting and how to set and finish your rings. Suitable for complete beginners wanting to make a one-off piece of lovely jewellery, or someone looking add a new skill to their making.

Materials are payable on the day due to the differing costs of stones etc. Both silver and a selection of gemstones or seaglass are available at the studio (as a rough estimation allow £10-£15 extra for materials). You are welcome to bring your own stone if you have one - we will be working with round or oval stones, just contact me if you have any questions.

I am a designer / silversmith based near the Bournemouth seaside in Westbourne, Dorset. In addition to making my own jewellery I teach a range of classes, from one day beginners workshops to terms of evening classes. As well as a degree in Silversmithing I have a PGCE in Post-16 education, and over 16 years teaching experience. I'm also very pleased to offer classes with Grainne Reynolds and Tony Sanders.
