Come join us at Taikaka in central Brighton for a fun and creative Friday evening of crocheting your very own basket! This small, relaxed and friendly class (maximum 6 people) is perfect for anyone looking to learn a new skill, explore sustainable fashion, or simply enjoy a mindful hour of crafting.

You’ll be guided through the process step by step and will walk away with:

✔️ A super cute handmade storage basket created using recycled T-shirt yarn

✔️ A curated crochet pattern to continue your journey at home – with instructions to remake the basket in different sizes!

This workshop is an immersive mindfulness experience through creativity and crafting. Using sustainable materials, you’ll discover how crochet can be both stylish and eco-friendly. All materials are included, so you just need to bring yourself and your curiosity.

It is a term for items of clothing made taking the human and environmental impacts of production into account to support a more just supply chain. It includes items that are sold second hand to extend their life and items sold second hand to raise money for causes that promote sustainability.

Do I need to bring anything?

All materials will be provided to you including recycled T-shirt yarn, crochet hooks, reclaimed buttons and creative handbag straps from reclaimed belts/scarfs.

Do I need to have prior experience to crochet?

Absolutely not! This is a beginner's course to give you a taste of the fun and creativity of crocheting!

Is this event dog friendly?

Yes! Taikaka is a very dog friendly venue. You are welcome to bring your furry friend to the workshop as long as they are well behaved during the session.
