About this event

The Smail family were keen fishermen and Smail's Stationers' Shop sold fishing tackle.

Learn the traditional art of fishing fly tying - for fishing, jewellery making or as decorative pieces.

Bruce has been passionate about fishing since he was a boy and was taught to tie flies by his grandfather. He went on to run the fishing club at school and now fishes all over the place, including the Tweed. Bruce regularly teaches fly tying to adults and schoolchildren.

No previous experience required and all materials provided, but please bring your own lunch.

Due to a generous grant, we are able to offer 1 free Community Collaboration place to applicants with Innerleithen or Walkerburn postcodes. To apply email us a bit of information about yourself (smails@nts.org.uk) by the 23rd of August. Applications will be confirmed 7 days before the course date.
