About this event

Are you a family and/or beginner gardener in Hitchin wanting to learn to grow your own food?

Join Laura from the Young Growers Club for this fun and interactive course to start you on your food growing journey.

As part of her aim to offer courses for busy parents, this hybrid course will provide a series of online modules that participants will be able to before an interactive in person session. Online we will cover the basics of food growing as well as key topics like companion planting and succession sowing. In person we will get our hands dirty sowing seeds, potting on and prepping beds.

Participants who enroll will get access to the online modules in September. They will then come along to the 2 / 2hr30 hour session. Parents will be able to bring their kids along and Laura will set up activities for them to do whilst the parents learn.

The interactive in-person session will take place on Sunday 19th October 2025: 1pm - 3:30pm (we may finish slightly earlier if we get everything covered).

The course is £50 per adult. Children go free with paying adult (s).

Each participant will be encouraged to complete a pre-course questionnaire so Laura can get an idea of experience and what you would like to achieve.

No gardening experience is required!

This in-person course will be held at Within the Walls Garden Project in Whitwell. It will be take place inside and outside so please dress accordingly.

Children's activities will vary but may include colouring, crafting and of course, some digging.
