Beginner's Foraging Walk

Welcome to our Beginner's Foraging Walk at Primley Woods!

This is a guided foraging walk for beginners. I am an experienced forager with many years of exploring nature, bushcraft and wild food cooking under my belt. However, the public walks are very much a new venture for me. With this in mind, I am offering low rates (in comparison to other foragers):

Adults: £10 (+fee)

Children: £5 (+fee)

Under 5s: Go Free

On this walk, we'll cover:

- Foraging and the law.

- Staying safe whilst foraging.

- The common edibles and how to use them.

- Inedible or poisonous lookalikes.

- For some species, we might also learn some of their practical or medicinal uses.

We'll mainly focus on plants and trees for this walk due to the time of year.

I'm a qualified teacher (Primary) so children are very welcome but please do be mindful of what they are picking... Not all plants are friendly and I only have one pair of eyes!

The route is mostly flat and accessible but tree roots could be tricky for some. The footpath can get slippery/muddy after heavy rain. Please wear comfortable footwear and sensible clothing for the weather. The walk will go ahead in rain but in the event of cancellation, you will have the option of an alternative date or a refund.

We'll meet at the entrance to the Primley Park on Westleat Avenue. There's usually plenty of residential parking on the surrounding roads but please do be mindful of access and driveways.

If you're interested but need to know more information, please don't hesitate to drop me a message.

Sorry, no dogs allowed.

On this walk, we'll cover:

- Foraging and the law.

- The common Spring edibles and how to use them.

We'll mainly focus on plants and trees for this walk due to it being Spring and the wrong time of year for most fungi.

The route is very flat and accessible but does involve walking along a stream. The footpath can get slippery/muddy after heavy rain. Please wear comfortable footwear and sensible clothing for the weather. The walk will go ahead in rain but in the event of cancellation, you will have the option of an alternative date or a refund.

We'll meet at the entrance to the stream path in Dawlish Warren. This is located just past Hazelwood Holiday park on the left and is between Hazelwood Drive and Million Way.
