Event description

Description

Learn how to weave a frame basket using farmed willow, hedgerow hazel and dog wood. We will create a berry basket with a rounded shape at the bottom, perfect for picking berries or to be given as a gift.

All basketry materials will be provided. Please bring a notebook and pen.

Suitable for all levels including beginners.

Sarah Gardner studied textiles design at Buckinghamshire University and went onto to work as an art and design technician/photographer and teacher. She has has been practicing basketry techniques, mainly with willow, flax and hedgerow materials for a number of years. Sarah helps to run the local leather accessories brand, Wolfram Lohr. She promotes leather craft in the craft and trade sector and has been a part of the Brighton Open Houses showing her basketry. Sarah has collaborated with artists on a number of exhibitions and projects including weaving fences.
