About this event

  • 5 hours 30 minutes

Under the careful guidance of Louise, you will spend the morning learning all the basics of free machine embroidery - stitching lines and shapes, combining colours of threads, how to create different effects with the stitches, applique and writing with the machine.

The afternoon will be spent creating your own unique piece of free machine embroidered artwork putting into practice your newly found skills.

There will be lots of help and guidance to create your artwork which you can use to create anything from cushion cover fronts, to bag fronts, to a series of greetings cards and anything else you can think of! You'll leave the workshop with heaps of new skills, a series of samples to inspire you and a beautiful piece of free machine embroidered artwork.

You are more than welcome to use Swarthmore sewing machines for this workshop, however if you would like to bring your own - that is absolutely fine. You just need to ensure you have a free embroidery foot for your own machine.

Get in touch if you have any questions about this.

Please note - this workshop is only suitable for adults 18+

If you have any access, mobility or other health issues which you think could impact your experience of the workshop, do to let us know in advance and we will aim to make reasonable adjustments where possible, to ensure you have a positive experience.

We request resonable notice of at least 2 working days to be able to action any adjustments.

Any information disclosed to Swarthmore will be relayed to the workshop facilitator.
