Beginners Guide to CRM for Small Charities


For any charity regardless of it's size, it is vital to keep track of your supporters, donors, suppliers and grant applications in a secure and manageble way.

This workshop is designed to help you understand what is involved in the journey of moving to a more structured Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and gives pointers and advice on how to manage the trip.

The session will cover:

  • The need for a CRM.
  • Critical success factors.
  • How to decide which one is best for you.
  • Should we get help to implement it, and if so, who?
  • Implementation stages.
  • Timescales and cost.
  • Pitfalls to watch out for on the journey.
  • An overview of GDPR for small charities.


This is a theory sharing session rather than an interactive workshop (although questions and discussion will be encouraged). You will leave the workshop with the knowledge to implement a CRM for your charity. There is no need for participants to prepare anything in advance.

The main focus of the workshop will be customer relationship management - maintaining and growing the relationship between the charity and its stakeholders. For different charities, this will usually include the need for incorporating operational functions such as fundraising, case management, grants management and many other areas. The ideal solution will be one that allows for incorporating these functions within a single system. The workshop will discuss generic solutions and generic approaches that would be applicable irrespective of the operational focus of the organisation.

 

Trainer bio: Lawrance Titterton
Lawrance has more than 20 years’ experience in IT, the majority of which has been spent with not for profits. He specialises in implementing systems for small non profits and has helped more than 50 organisations over the years in the UK and as far afield as Singapore, Brazil, Kazakhstan, South Africa.

Lawrance is also joint founder and chairman of Alongside Africa, a small UK registered charity and Alongside Africa Uganda, a registered Ugandan NGO, so he understands the needs of small non profits and how to use CRM systems.

Workshop:

We ask that all attendees arrive 15 minutes before the workshop starts to allow for registration and ensure a timely start and the smooth running of the workshop. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day, however lunch will not be provided.

You must be a member of Small Charities Coalition in order to attend this workshop. If you aren't already you can register for free here.

Waitlist:
If the places have all been filled please do add your details to the waitlist and we will let you know as soon as a place becomes available.

Cancellations and Refunds:
If you cancel your place at least 2 full working days before the event takes place then you are entitled to a full refund by request. Refunds for cancellations after this point are given at the discretion of Small Charities Coalition.

If you cannot make a workshop please advise us as soon as possible. Workshops normally have a waitlist and if you notify us early enough then there's a good chance another charity can attend in your place.
