Event description
A fun introduction to pottery taster letting you try your hand at the potter's wheel and handbuilding techniques

About this event

This is a one-off class for anyone over 16 who has ever fancied trying out a bit of pottery, having a go on the potter's wheel and doing a bit of handbuilding as a treat or trying it out before signing up for a course.

You will have 2 hours on the wheel starting from the centred position, you will make one/two pots during the session. You will also have 2 hours of handbuilding a coil pot and, if time allows, making a plate or bowl using molds. You will then have around half an hour to decorate all your work using stained slips. Your work will then be fired and glazed with a clear glossy glaze to bring out all the vibrant colours. It will be ready in about 4 weeks.

Date: Saturday 27th November 1.30-6pm

Cost: £110 inclusive of all materials and firings.

Covid-19: Please note that we have implemented new work practices to keep everyone safe. When you arrive, you will have to queue outside. You will be allowed in one at a time and given time to take your seat. You will be issued with a mask (you can bring your own if you'd rather), a clean apron and towel as well as some latex gloves if you would prefer to use them. You will have to sanitise your hands. The teachers will be wearing face shields. We are not able to socially distance so we have installed cough screens in between each wheel. There will be one to one contact with the teachers through your hands as that is how pottery is taught. The teachers will sanitise their hands before making contact. At the end of the class you will leave one by one as you came in.

Please note that you are required to wear a mask in the studio. If you are exempt please get in touch with us before the course starts. If you have been abroad 14 days before any of the classes you will have to miss the class.

REFUNDS: *Please note that if you cancel 10 full working days in advance then you will get a full refund. If you cancel between 10-7 full working days in advance then you will only get a 50% refund if someone else can be found to replace you. Please note that all refunds are minus Eventbrite fees which are non-refundable. Cancelations may be subject to an admin fee of £20.

Please note that we are unable to offer refunds or transfers within the 10 working days notice period if you are having to self-isolate or develop Covid-19 unless someone can be found to replace you.
