Get ready for your Spring marathon with this beginner’s workshop.
Have you bitten the bullet and decided to aim for your first marathon in 2017? Perhaps you’ve decided to run for charity or have secured a place in the VLM ballot. Whatever your reasons for doing it, you want to make sure you’re fully prepared for the big day, and this is where I can help.
Building on my experience on running numerous road marathons, as well as trail races and ultras, I can help you with the basics to get you through your training in one piece and to the start of the race with a smile on your face.
We’ll go through some of the basics of marathon training including:
- Goal setting
- How to understand your strengths and weaknesses
- Structuring your training
- Running technique basics
- Injury prevention
- Race day preparation
I’ll provide you with notes from the day that you can take with you, as well as a training plan to help you towards the big day.
We’ll spend the first hour discussing where you’re at with your training and the basics of running a marathon, and we’ll then spend a couple of hours in the park going through some of the key components or a marathon plan, and some technique based work.
You should finish the workshop feeling more confident about your training going forward and with some new friends to talk about it with too.
