Have you always wanted to try patchwork but didn’t know where to begin? This beginner-friendly class is the perfect introduction to the timeless art of patchwork quilting.
In this hands-on session, you’ll learn all the foundational techniques you need to get started with confidence, including:
- Choosing fabrics and understanding how colours and prints work together
- Selecting the right first block to begin with
- Cutting squares and half square triangles accurately
- Sewing precise seams and pressing for a neat finish
- Strip piecing, adding borders and sashing for a polished look
- An introduction to the basic tools and equipment that make patchwork easier and more enjoyable
You’ll create two sample blocks:
- A classic 9-patch block
- A block made with half square triangles
These blocks can be turned into a beautiful cushion front, or—if you’re inspired to make more at home—they can become part of a small quilt or wall hanging.
