This is an introduction to photography workshop with the best selling photographer Doug Harman, where he will guide you through the mysteries of metering, the foibles of focusing, de-mystify depth-of-field and help you work with white balance.
You'll need to bring a camera with a fully charged battery, a good size memory card – with plenty of free space – and the camera's manual, just in case. Doug will then walk you through the basics of camera control, teach you why those controls are there, how the camera works and the reason why all of that is vitally important for successful photos.
Doug will go through the basics of composition and framing and show you and how taking control of the controls on the camera actually allow you to take control of your creativity too. You will do a practical shoot and take photos putting it all into practice, then you go over the pictures and do some basic image editing on them, using cutting-edge software such as Lightroom, helping to improve and adjust exposure, colour, sharpness and much much more.
You will also print out and take away with you two A4 photo-quality prints of your favourite pictures and Doug will then send you everything covered in an email "aide memoire" so, should you forget something, you have a document you can print and carry in your camera bag to read and help jog your memory.
• Lunch and refreshments are included
• Please remember your camera (big or small is fine) the camera's instruction manual, a memory card, and do wear comfortable shoes for your photography walk.
More workshops with Doug to follow so look out for them.
