4 week course: Starts Wednesday 8th October then Wednesdays 15th / 22nd / 29th

Join for this beginners sewing evening course to build your confidence with sewing and using a machine.

Whether you are new to sewing or need a refresher, you will gain essential sewing machine skills, learn to work with fabric, understand and use a pattern while completing two sewing projects.

Project one: zipped cushion

Project two: elasticated trousers or shorts with pockets

Bring your own machine or hire one from the studio, choose add on in the payment section. You also have the option to purchase a sewing kit that you can take home with you.

Otherwise equipment and fabric is provided. Looking forward to sewing with you!

This is a small class of 6 so you will have ample opportunity for 1:1 guidance and support.

Is this course accessible?

No, we apologise that unfortunately this location does not have accessible access at the moment.

Do I need to bring anything?

You are welcome to bring your own machine or hire one from the studio. You are also welcome to bring your own sewing kit, otherwise tools are provided or you can purchase a sewing kit alongside the course. Fabric is provided for the projects.

Does my machine need PAT testing?

Yes if you are to bring your own machine, please get in touch to arrange for PAT testing prior to the course starting.

Will there be a break?

We will not have a break during these hours so please make sure you have eaten or bring a snack with you.

Can I bring my own fabric?

Of course you can, please get in touch to discuss how much you will need.

Who is the teacher?

Laura Griffin is a tailor, seamstress and tutor based at The Margate School. Her career has spanned 20 years tailoring for special occasions, costume for TV/film and bespoke clothing commissions. www.lauragriffin.co.uk @_laura_griffin

Can I come to just one or two sessions?

This course is designed to cover skills over the 4 weeks so please make sure you are available for the 4 sessions that the purchase covers.

Is the course at the same time each week?

Yes! We will be learning from 6pm - 8.30pm each Wednesday, starting on the 8th and finishing on the 29th.
