About this Event
Description
This course aims to give newcomers the core skills of hand, foot and eye coordination, and provide the opportunity to learn and practice safely under close supervision.
To enrol on this course candidates must be at least 16 years old, have common sense and a mature attitude. Following attendance, trainees from this course should be closely supervised at all times and a risk assessment be carried out in all circumstances, as required by the Health and Safety executive. Course Content includes:
- Safety
- Use and recognition of controls
- Driving Safely
- Tractor and Trailer driving and some instruction on 3 point linkage
- Learn the basics of tractor driving in a safe environment
- Basic maintenance
- Hitching and manoeuvring a trailer
You need to bring: You may wish to bring writing materials to take your own course notes on the day. Please wear comfortable clothing, overalls, steel-toe capped boots and bring with you all-weather outer wear as the practical aspect of the course will be carried out outside.
Please note: This beginners course is evidence of training and assessed competence, it is not a qualification or a tractor driving licence for use on public roads. Driver testing and licencing is dealt with by DSA and DVLA. Booking of theory and practical driving tests can be made by calling 0800 0101372.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
You must be aged 16 or over to attend this course.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is available at Suffolk Rural with no charge.
Are refreshments available?
You will be able to purchase refreshments and lunch from the college refectories. Alternatively you may bring your own refreshments and lunch if preferred.

What precautions are in place relating to Covid 19?
If you are showing any symptoms or have been in contact with anyone showing symptoms in the last 14 days, please do not travel or attend the college.
The college has implemented a range of adjustments in line with Government guidelines. This includes introducing a one-way system around the building, reconfiguring rooms and ventilation, wearing face coverings in communal areas and when 2m distance cannot be maintained such as when being taught a specific skill, applying social distancing in the communal areas and in classrooms/workshops, washing hands with soap and water often for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer gel if soap and water not available.
