Beginning Bookmaking: Handmade Books Workshop with Demi Anter

By Demi Anter

Overview

Create your own handmade artist's books with guidance in structure and content, with the theme of "Berlin." All welcome. Materials included.

Join us for a cosy crafting session to welcome the new year and learn to create your own books with writer and artist, Demi Anter.

Attendees will be guided through every step of creating one handmade book style, with an optional additional style. This first session will focus on sewn binding styles (saddle stitch and stab binding).

While attendees are encouraged to create whatever content they like for their book, we'll use the theme of Berlin to inspire us.

You'll be guided through book structure, and then be given time to populate your books with writing, drawings, and collage.

Materials are included, but participants are encouraged to bring any additional creative materials they might like to incorporate, like writing, photographs, ticket stubs, fliers, and postcards, to further personalize their books.

All experience levels are welcome. Each participant will leave with at least one handmade book, perfect as a gift or a personal keepsake. Refreshments are included.

Another beginning bookmaking session takes place February 14th. Join us!

If you'd like to give a workshop place as a gift, please use the contact form on this page to contact the facilitator for more information and a digital gift card.
