This workshop will focus on the concept of behaviour change. In particular, the workshop will seek to develop a better understanding of factors that both influence and determine behaviour change; and consider intervention strategies to support clients and patients to make positive behaviour changes and lifestyle choices. In the workshop you will develop an understanding of the behaviour change wheel which brings together a range of different behaviour change frameworks of interventions into one easy tool. At the centre of the wheel is the COM-B model of behaviour, and using the model and the wheel you will explore the barriers that might exist to behaviour change and potential solutions to each type of barrier.

Workshop goals:

  • To increase awareness of behaviour change and the behaviour change wheel.
  • Develop an awareness of the COM-B model of behaviour and behaviour change.
  • Identify strategies that can be utilised to enhance the likelihood of patients/clients engaging in positive behaviour change.

Monday Morning you will be able to:

  • Explain the COM-B approach to behaviour change
  • Understand different types of barriers that exist to behaviour change.
  • Better support clients and patients to make positive lifestyle changes
