What does it cover:
This programme consists of two elements, the legal framework and the theory of de-escalation, alongside a taster session of low-level physical de-escalation techniques.
It supports staff to gain a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities and to cope with all levels of behaviour. For many people, understanding the triggers of behaviour and how to deal with it is essential if they are to carry out their daily duties safely.
It focuses on de-escalation and positive strategies. It is underpinned by clear articulation and behavioural theory, law and best practice. Each programme is consistently updated to reflect Government policies and new thinking.
Theory programme:
- Legal aspects around our rights and responsibilities
- Potential causes of behaviour
- Methods to identify strategies that de-escalate the situation
- Incident recording, risk assessment and proactive planning
- This is a whole day course. This programme is a pre-requisite to any physical de-escalation training.
Low-level physicals:
- Taster session, focusing on the scenarios that staff may face. Ie; Personal care, and supporting everyday tasks.
The training is accredited for two-years, and a certificate is gained upon completion.
This is a face to face training workshop, taking place at IP City Centre.

Cancellation policy: In the event of you no longer being able to attend the workshop, we require 7 days notice in order to issue a refund. We can transfer your ticket to an alternative date if spaces are available and given at least 24 hours notice. If you are unwell on the day we can refund your ticket once you have rebooked onto an alternative session.
