Course Overview
This interactive two-day programme aims to develop learners’ skills in supporting individuals (including those living with dementia) whose behaviours may challenge.
Over the two days learners will gain an understanding of the possible causes of behaviours that challenge and develop their skills and knowledge to provide proactive support to reduce the likelihood of them occurring. It will discuss strategies to defuse and calm, to keep everyone safe
The course will explore the behavioural assessment process in understanding why an individual is presenting with behaviours that challenge. This can support the development of a behaviour support plan to ensure consistency when working with individuals.
Learners will identify possible restrictions that may be imposed as a response to behaviours that challenge and discuss the legal and ethical implications of the use of restrictive practices and how this can have an impact on behaviours that challenge.
