About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Sooo…

  • How do you make a film this radical, get serious funding to do it… and.. still make it feel like a riot on screen?
  • What happens when you cast real-life chaos agents as your leads?
  • Was there even a script - or was it instinct, improv?
  • Any rehearsals? How did you all keep the emotional pulse?
  • How do you pull off a film that blends fact, fiction, and music into a wild hybrid - and were there any creative breakthroughs that came with that risk? Challenges?
  • How do you shoot in Irish, tell a fiercely political story, and get industry support?
  • What does producing a radical film like this actually involve - on the ground
  • If you're a filmmaker or creative in any medium, wanting to break rules - what else must you know?

We go behind the scenes of the BAFTA winning, KNEECAP with director Rich Peppiatt and producer Trevor Birney - who pulled off this utterly brilliant film, without compromising their vision.

Tickets are limited based on capacity - grab yours early to guarantee a seat.

Rich Peppiatt, is a former tabloid journalist turned filmmaker, and proud SP member, whose first feature One Rogue Reporter took aim at the British press with biting satire. With KNEECAP, he fuses politics, punk, and playfulness into a defiant new kind of cinema.

Trevor Birney is an Emmy-winning producer known for bold, investigative storytelling (No Stone Unturned, Lyra). With KNEECAP, he backed a vision that brought it crashing onto the big screen worldwide.

KNEECAP is the first ever Irish-language film to premiere at Sundance - and the first to sell out in under 60 seconds. Blending fact and fiction, it stars the real-life members of the rap group Kneecap in a wild hybrid debut that went on to win multiple awards including the Audience Award at Berlinale & Outstanding Directing Debut at Bafta. It’s been hailed as one of the boldest, most original films of the year.
