Learn the history of Clitheroe library, including the historic 1820s Moot Hall and 1600s dungeons. View original architectural plans and discover how the building has changed over the last century. Tours at 11.00 & 14.00

The original Moot Hall built around 1820 used as a court for the borough. The Dungeons hewn from solid rock, built around 1600 and used to house local petty criminals and prisoners on their way to Lancaster Castle. The Library Clock dating from 1905 given to the library in memory of 2 brothers from a prominent local family who drowned at sea. Millennium Windows - designed by local secondary school pupils as part of a competition in 2000. Famous Faces - A fine selection of oil paintings showing local dignitaries. Children's library - Originally the town's public toilets in 1922! We have an original copy of "Displaying of supposed witchcraft" by John Webster, which will be on display.
