Behind the Scenes: boat tour of Shoreham Port, (members only)
Ahoy Shipmates! Here at the Chamber, we're always keen to offer you events with a difference, so we're sure that you're all going to love this one - not least because it's totally FREE if you're a Chamber member.
On Friday 21 July at 14:30, as part of our popular series of “Behind the Scenes” tours, come and join us as we venture out to sea – well, almost. We're delighted to invite Chamber members on a tour of Shoreham Port, giving you the opportunity to find out more about how the port operates and to learn about its history and how it's coped with economic and social change. Even better: venture onto the water with your fellow guests and networkers in a boat exclusively booked for the Chamber of Commerce.
Shoreham Port has a rich history dating back as far as Roman Times when it was known as Portus Adurni. Did you know that more recently it was also a key departure point for troops participating in the D-Day landings in Normandy in 1944?
The tour lasts about 45 minutes and will give all you land lubbers out there a rare opportunity to explore Shoreham Port from the water in a robust boat manned by an experienced member of the Port staff.
You'll have the chance to meet the team, ask questions and hear all about Shoreham Port's future. You'll even be able to see how the Port actually operates as the team will be loading and discharging cargo from one of the Port's several cargo vessels. The tour includes a live commentary, too.
You will need to book early. Remember that places are free but only available to Chamber of Commerce members. Don't forget to wear sturdy shoes and arrive on time to allow prompt embarkation.
Cancellation policy: Places are limited and events usually oversubscribed. Please give 2 working days' notice via email if you wish to cancel.
With thanks to our event partner:
