Description

Behind the Scenes: Brighton Toy and Model Museum (members only)

“What day is it?”

“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.

“My favourite day,” said Pooh.

Wednesday 21 March – 6 to 8pm – that’s your favourite day to revisit the time when you were young, innocent and full of hope.

As part of our hugely popular Behind the Scenes series, we are pleased to announce an exclusive trip for Chamber members to Brighton's best kept secret - the Brighton Toy and Model Museum.

Step into a world of toys and models extending over 4000 ft² of floor space, under four of the early Victorian arches supporting Brighton Railway Station. Founded in 1991, the Museum has over 10,000 toys and models in its archive.

There are toys from as early as the mid-18th century, although most of the exhibits focus on the golden age of toy-making during the first half of the 20th century. There are all types of toys, including priceless model train collections and many antiques from the UK, Europe and the USA.

Doors open for Chamber members at 6pm for drinks before we start this fascinating tour at 6.30pm. You’ll hear about the history of the building, from being part of the railway station, and how it has been used since.

The tour will run until 7.15pm and you can continue to look around the museum, enjoy more drinks, ask questions and network until 8pm.

Rediscover your youth and enjoy the wonder and joy of toys from a bygone age.

“To infinity and beyond!”

Please note that due to limited numbers you may only purchase a maximum of 2 tickets per organisation.
