Event description
An exclusive opportunity to glimpse a behind-the-scenes preview of the Cathedral's redevelopment project

About this Event

Working with our contractors, Historic Property Restoration Limited (HPR), we are really delighted to be able to offer you a first opportunity for an exclusive sneak preview at our building works and to see the progress we are making with our National Lottery Heritage Fund project, Common Ground in Sacred Space.

On Saturday 19 September 2020 (part of the national Heritage Open Day initiative) we are opening the Cathedral’s west doors for a special preview event to welcome you back, our loyal supporters, and to thank you for your support during these difficult times. Pre-booked small groups will have their first view of the Nave in its state of glorious disarray during the capital works, see HPR in action, hear more from one of the Cathedral team, and have a chance to ask questions and take photographs.

We are inviting you to book for a place on any available viewing time slot. Spaces are really limited and are available on a first come first served basis. Viewings last for approximately 30 minutes and will take place immediately inside the West doors around the font area.

If you would like to attend, please book via Eventbrite.

We know that this first opportunity to show off the Nave will be extremely popular. If you’re unable to book a place then please do let the Cathedral's Marketing and Communications Manager, Catherine Mair, know if you’d like to be considered for future such events and we will set up additional ones in the very near future. Catherine can be contacted by email at: catherine.mair@newcastlecathedral.org.uk

If you are able to book a slot, please note that attendees will be required to wear a mask (although we understand some are unable to for medical reasons). Please also wear sturdy footwear and assemble outside the West Door shortly before the viewing time where a member of the team will take your name.

We are very excited to be able to offer this opportunity and are very much looking forward to welcoming you back to Newcastle Cathedral very soon.
