Being a Chair

Understanding the Role and Making Sense of Expectations

Led by Shirley Otto, MDN in Scotland

(Catering provided)

Leadership in third sector organisations is not straightforward; roles, responsibilities and liabilities are not clear-cut. This is especially so for Chairs of Trustees or Boards. This masterclass explains and explores expectations and looks at best practice when carrying out the role.

The outputs and benefits of the masterclass will be:

  • Identification of available resources and good practice guides with discussion about how they apply
  • Discussion stimulated by participant experience in light of recent research
  • Encouraging greater awareness and debate about governance and its significance for the voluntary and community sectors in Scotland

This masterclass is designed to complement our August seminar "Ensuring Robust Relationships", but both are stand alone events.
