Event description
Improvisation, storytelling, discussion and empowerment workshop for female staff and volunteers of women's charities in Bristol.

About this event

Do you catch yourself apologising all the time?

Are you scared to speak up in meetings, or social situations?

Have you ever been called a 'Difficult Woman'?

In this workshop, we embrace our Difficult Woman. Using a combination of discussion, personal reflection, improv and exercises, we will practice:-

  • Expressing our views
  • Vocally supporting other women and oppressed groups
  • The word 'no' and its effective use
  • Being unapologetic with our opinions

Expect lots of fun, laughter and play as we use drama games to explore these topics. A great opportunity to network and mix with other 'difficult' women working in the women's charitable sector in Bristol. No performance experience needed. This event is for all cis and trans women, as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space which centres the experience of women.

Venue

Kuumba Centre, 22 Hepburn Road, St Paul's, Bristol, BS2 8UD.

Testimonials

‘As soon as the workshop finished I straightaway described to two friends how much I enjoyed the workshop: it felt a really safe space and I was really happy to be listening to other womxn and their experiences while reflecting on my own. The workshop explored topics like people pleasing, apologising, female competition and boundaries. I found the exercises enjoyable and it gave me lots to think about.’
‘An empowering workshop in helping you reclaim/use your power through improvisation.'
‘Awesome. Well structured, superbly led and very worthwhile.’
'Fun activities focussing on key areas where we struggle as women and get in our own way.'
'As a women I do feel that I have restrictions in how I am allowed to communicate. From society, the patriarchy, self-imposed. And I think much of the time we maybe don't realise that we are sort of restricted in this way until we do something like improv and feel what it's like not to be.’
'This may be the best course I have ever done in my life on any topic/skill. This was so meaningful and felt entirely safe and supported by Imogen and my course mates. Truly inspirational.’
