Event description
Being Human 2019: Discovering Lost Children after World War II

About this Event

After World War II, many non-German children were unaccompanied in Germany. The Allies' fledgling tracing service tried to locate and, if possible, repatriate them. This event combines a 1950 BBC radio play about the child searchers with a guide to the latter's now digitised archive, with a demonstration on how to search it. Part performance, part introduction to the Child Search Branch records and part talk about how child search operated, this unique event delves into some of the most complex and emotionally compelling secrets of the war.

In partnership with The Holocaust Research Institute, Royal Holloway, University of London. This event is part of the Being Human: Festival of the Humanities.

The event is free, but registration is required.
