Event description

Description

Explore the heritage of telecoms alongside specially-created films and displays by Central St Martin’s design students. Visit BT Archives - housed in a 1927 telephone exchange building in central London.

Archives are often discovered by individual research, but for the festival, we’re opening the space. Graphic Communication Design students have responded to the heritage collections and created works inspired by their reading of the documents, photographs, art and objects.

Alongside the students’ displays, the heritage team will bring out their favourite original material – their discoveries, to be viewed side-by-side with the students’ work.

We’ll be running film viewings. Interspersed with the students’ film creations, there will be short films from the archive collections. From a 1930s ‘Heavenly Post Office’ film describing the different types of telegram, to a 1990s adverts where Bob Hoskins explains that ‘it’s good to talk’.
