Event description
I would be delighted to have your presence at the launch of my book "Belfast: City of Light" in Queen's University area on Tuesday 3 March.

About this Event

What if, in the city of Belfast that is conflicted both emotionally and physically, a non-churchgoer artist decides to follow an artistic thread of visiting every church in Belfast for a service, simply looking and listening to what is going on?

Bronagh Lawson decided to do just that. After thirteen years of setting up and running cross-community, cross-border development programmes on interfaces in Belfast, she went back to her artistic roots and simply followed a thread of creative enquiry.

Ten years later, she considered how she could encourage others to see an alternative view of the spiritual life of the city. Belfast: City of Light is a true account of that journey. May it start a thousand conversations.

At this event Bronagh will give a talk to recount some of her experiences through her journey and take questions from the audience. She will also sign copies of her book (available to purchase on the day, £15 cash or cheque only).

A few words of introduction will be given by Grace Clunie (M.A.), who has been a Church of Ireland (Episcopal) priest for 25 years, working in parishes all over Northern Ireland. She has also worked for Irish Peace Centres and as a Chaplain for the Southern Area Hospice.

Grace is the author of two books on Celtic Spirituality and was teaching a class on 'The Search for the Sacred Feminine' for QUB's Open Learning Dept. when she first met Bronagh Lawson some years ago.

What impressed Grace about Bronagh's colossal undertaking to attend every church in Belfast was her open-mindedness. She says, "Clearly each of us are different when it comes to finding a spiritual path that helps the soul's journey, but Bronagh had the gift of seeing beyond all of that to the heart of every tradition - to look, to listen, and to see the light."

Check what the media also say about this book: Belfast Media Group and the Down Recorder.
