About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Book a fun, 90-minute evening tour to be introduced to Belfast’s rich music scene, on a guided tour focused mainly in the city’s bustling creative heart, the Cathedral Quarter. You’ll hear about many of the city’s best-known or future stars, across a wide range of music genres, including electronic, trad Irish, jazz, rock, pop, hip hop, punk and more. This evening walk will let you see that Belfast really is a rich music city, worthy of its designation as a UNESCO City of Music, and whet your appetite to experience its music for yourself.

The tour will begin in the foyer of 2RA, one of the city’s newest cultural venues. It will then take in historic pubs, Belfast’s oldest church building that is linked to Belfast’s first music festival in 1792, a legendary venue in the city's late '70s punk scene, open air performance spaces, and the Oh Yeah Music Centre, Belfast’s own dedicated music hub.

Your guide will explain Belfast’s rich musical heritage and the city’s different musical traditions and their roots. You will hear stories about iconic music moments, characters and local legends - past and present – accompanied by a varied soundtrack of music clips as part of the tour playlist. It will a leisurely walk of around 1.5 miles.

Your guide will give recommendations for what’s on that evening, and you may choose to stay on afterwards in the Cathedral Quarter to enjoy a meal, drink or gig.
