It may be the world of ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ and some of the most expensive properties in the country, but Belgravia was once also inhabited by servants, footman, butlers and stable boys – ordinary working folk!
And where did they go in the evenings for a spot of relaxation, to enjoy a drink and to gossip about their lords and masters? The pub of course!
We’ll talk about the history of the pubs and some of the characters you would have found there and of course we’ll sample some of the beers on offer.
Visiting a total of 5 pubs, we’ll stop off in The Star Tavern for a bite to eat and tell you the story of Peter Scott, one of London’s most notorious cat burglars. (His trademark was always to steal an item of lady’s underwear whenever he committed a burglary!)
