About this event

Community • City & Town

During your visit, you'll come up to the ringing room, see bell ringers demonstrating ringing the bells, and hear a little of the history of bell ringing in England. You'll also have the opportunity to have a go at ringing a bell and ask any questions you have.

Children are very welcome provided they have their own ticket and are accompanied by a responsible adult ticket holder.

A minimum donation of £1pp will be taken at the door which will go to the tower fund to pay for new ropes and crucial bell maintenance.

Note: there are 43 narrow, spiral steps up to the ringing room see bell ringers demonstrating so this isn't a suitable event for those with mobility difficulties.

Frequently asked questions

Is the ringing room accessible?

Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the church tower, the ringing room is only accessible by 43 steep, narrow, stone steps so this activity won’t be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Is this open to children?

Yes, provided each child has their own ticket and is accompanied by a responsible adult (who also has their own ticket) then children are very welcome and able to participate.
