Join us for a fire and feast festival at our annual Beltane celebration.

Carved into the South Downs national park, Wild Heart Hill has witnessed celebrations of the summer’s return for hundreds - if not thousands - of years. And on Saturday 4th of May, the Wellderness brings its community together to embrace this ancient festival once again.

Throughout the day, we’ll welcome the Sompting Morris Dancers, Earth Rhythms Drumming and the Gathering Light Choir. There will be crafts in the ‘village’. The Spud Shack 24 and the Blue Box Bar will serve up delicious food and drink. And we’ll have story tellers, live folk music and plenty of song and dance.

White Raven Ceremonies will be on site for hand fastings - a simple celebration of love and commitment - and, as the sun descends over the Downs, the Poi Passion crew will light the sky with a full troupe fire performance.

You’re invited to join us around the Beltane campfire, to sing and dance, to watch and listen or simply just to be. In the community and in nature.

Adult - General Admission - £20

Child - General Admission (5-16 years) - £10

Child General Admission (under 5 years) - free

Travel to the event:

Mandatory car parking ticket (x1 ticket is required for each car on site) - £5

We’re charging £5 per car for parking at the event. All money raised through car parking will be put towards future tree planting as we look to offset unavoidable carbon emissions caused by people travelling to our events. As much as possible, we recommend our guests share cars, which helps reduce carbon emissions and controls the number of vehicles at the venue (plus, it means you share the car parking cost, so everyone wins!).

The Wellderness started with a single sapling. Not a real one, they came later. This sapling was figurative. Its seed was planted many years ago, in our collective love of nature and in our community spirit. The Wellderfolk (as we call our community) gave fertile ground for the sapling to grow. And together, we nurtured that tiny tree as it spread skywards and pushed out strong branches.Like any other deciduous tree, it sheds leaves to nourish the ground, and drops seeds to give life a chance. And from those seeds, new trees have already begun to grow. Which is just the beginning. We want to touch the lives of 10 million people, and that’s going to take a forest. And while each tree will be temporary, the forest is forever.

That’s our 1,000-year legacy.
