"Ben & Friends": A Winter Concert with Opera Tenor Ben Smith
A medley of wonderful winter-warming treats, from West End musical hits to classical opera, performed by the Royal College of Music's opera tenor and former member of the Classical Brit Award-winning Welsh choir phenomenon Only Men Aloud, Ben Smith, and friends. During a special interval, the hosts will welcome the audience for fireworks, mulled wine and festive cheer.
Prior to accepting an opera scholarship at the Royal College of Music, Ben toured and recorded extensively in the UK and America with Only Men Aloud and performed at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. He was featured on the BBC2 series Young Welsh Tenors, which documented the discovery of his voice. He discovered his passion for singing as an RAF cadet, when he was training to become a professional fighter pilot.
His career thus far includes TV and recording studio work and he regularly performs on the biggest stages in the UK. Ben’s most recent solo performances include soloist at the Royal Albert Hall with the thousand male voices and at Cardiff’s St David’s Hall. On the Oratorio platform he has performed Handel’s Messiah, Bruckner’s Requiem, Bach Cantatas, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Stainer’s Crucifixion. Operatic repertoire includes scenes from Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo; Tamino, The Magic Flute; Sir Walter Raleigh, Merrie England; Tybalt, Romeo and Juliette and First Sailor Dido and Aeneas.
Tickets are non-refundable.
The fireworks and refreshments will take place at the neighbouring property. If you have any queries regarding access (for example wheelchair-users) please email email@example.com.
