Benchmarking – an important starting point for school efficiency
Tue 26 September 2017, 09:00 – 16:00 BST
This course will help you to evaluate the messages your school receives in your Benchmarking Scorecard and Value for Money Metric. You will be provided with a specially designed template, unique to this programme, which organises financial structures to surface performance and strategic issues in practical ways. It delivers an essential situation analysis for strategic and medium-term planning purposes and reveals the influence of leadership decisions on the delivery of educational outputs.
The training is limited to a maximum of seven schools, with up to three delegates attending from each school. Participants should bring their own laptops with Excel software (one per school). An exclusive toolkit and templates will be provided on a memory stick on the day. Please note that tablets without a USB port are not suitable for this course, and the templates provided will not normally be compatible with open office applications.
You will leave this course:
- With a detailed step by step briefing to undertake some work on their last year's financial outturn, which will take around one hour.
- Able to select relevant and appropriate comparators for your school upon which to base an informed comparison
- Able to make a detailed and informed comparison of their school's performance against comparators performance through guided tutorials and a pre-prepared checklist
- Capable of making improvements in the alignment of school development planning priorities with resource allocation
