Benchtop to Patient: How to translate rare disease science into therapies
Fri 12 May 2017, 13:00 – 17:00 BST
This free workshop, which follows on the Oxford Rare disease conference from May 11th-12th, will explore barriers to the efficient translation of revolutionary advances in biology related to rare disease conditions and the ability to translate these into the therapies desperately needed by the patients with these conditions. We will explore the role of public, private charitable and corporate funders in creating a new partnership to facilitate early research and translation. We will also look at novel models of funding for later translational research after a proof of concept has been established. Finally we will look specifically at any remaining regulatory and Clinical trial design barriers to full development and approval, and the important role that patient groups play in this process.
