Bender Defenders Queer self-defence taster
Event Information
About this event
Hackney’s first gay self defence course was set up in Dalston in the 1980s in response to homophobic hate crime. Sadly over 30 years later, these issues of LGBTQI+ hate crime are still occuring. Learn some self defence skills to help you feel that bit more confident, have fun and get moving to support your mental health. Bender Defenders classes are taught in a light-hearted, fun way, offering a sense of community. All abilities welcome.

Do not attend if you have symptoms of Covid-19 such as a high temperature or if you have been alerted to self isolate by the NHS app or contact tracing service. The event takes place in a large room, with through ventilation from front to back door. These are smaller capped class numbers to ensure social distancing is possible. There is hand sanitizer on entry to the building for all participants and facilitators. Please also scan the check-in code on entry.
