Beneficial and Harmful Insects for Farming : Lessons from Nepal

In this talk Professor Sundar Tiwari, leading entomologist from Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) in Nepal will discuss how farmers can work to achieve balance between beneficial and harmful insects for plant protection.

One of the greatest challenges facing sustainable farming is the management of insects. No-one wants toxic pesticides in the ground and waterways but people need to eat, plants need to grow, flower and produce. And hungry insects get in the way.

When insects eat plants, it interrupts farmers ability to grow and harvest and people's ability to eat the produce.

Sustainable farming is about achieving ecological balance where insects can live in harmony alongside food production. Professor Tiwari will share his insights on how they are working towards this goal in Nepal.

This is an online talk shared as part of Nepali Day at Manchester Museum

Come see the talk live on 23rd September (register on Eventbrite) or find a recording of the talk on www.giantinsectworld.com after that date.
